We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub — great service and very friendly staff. The venison was delicious, though we would have preferred it a bit less done. Still, everything was excellent. We loved the combination of flavors, and the dessert was fantastic too.

Great atmosphere, good service and well prepared food. Venison dishes were excellent for a pub. Only goat cheese salad lacked proper dressing a bit, but overall I would recommend this place for its ambiance and cuisine.

Haha, gotcha! My bad. Let's try that again: Popped into the Haunch of Venison in Salisbury tonight and had such a lovely time! The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, even as a solo visitor. Big shoutout to Ewen behind the bar – he was super friendly and happily chatted me through all the beer options. And the best part? He gave me a little impromptu history tour of this incredible old building! So much character and stories within these walls. If you're ever in Salisbury and flying solo, this place is a must-visit! They serve food but I didn't eat buy one of the locals remarked on the quality and reasonable price of the food.

I was tempted to give it 4 star for the food because the fish had a weird taste I disliked. However, because of how delicious the other dishes were (particularly the scotch egg) I had to give it a higher grade. The venison meat was tastefully cooked, deserving of the name of the pub.

Very old pub in the centre of Salisbury. Wood, open fires and nooks and crannies, really interesting. Staff were really helpful and friendly, particulary the guy on the bar downstairs. Dogs only allowed in bar and small space on 1st floor but the space wasn't busy when we arrived so all good. Roast dinner was generous and really tasty. Loads of different vegetables and a good portion of beef. Spot on!

An amazing old pub that oozes history. Well worth a visit just for a drink in one of the nooks. We went for dinner as well and the food and service were excellent. The staff were knowledgeable regarding gluten intolerance and the options available on the menu. The trio of venison is outstanding. Just do it.

Tiny little pub, rowdy atmosphere, get there early for a table. Restaurant upstairs. We booked a few days ahead for a table for 2 for 8pm Saturday. Gorgeously rich flavours of traditional courses. Never had a blackberry that burst with so much flavour. We had pigeon, Trio of Venison and the Vension Casserole. Each was beautiful to eat. Service was good, moved us to another room away from a children's party. It's a fantastic building to eat in. A must stop in Sailsbury

A pub full of character that we're glad we visited whilst we were in Salisbury. The kids very much enjoyed the mummified hand! Food was lovely and the service was great.
